6 weeks already? I can hardly believe how quickly the time has gone. This week was all about Mat Workout for Beginners Mat 3. I am really loving this workout. The arms are killer, especially those last three sets of weighted arms to the back that I talked about last week and that sweeping leg move is still giving me some problems. Of course that could be due, in part, to the 1.5 lb ankle weights that were delivered and added to my workout as of Wednesday. After adding the ankle weights I realized a few of those legs moves that I thought weren’t that bad are a whole different story once you have the ankle weights on. Oh my, I definitely have a whole new appreciation for the phrase “hurts so good” now. Because this workout hurts SO good!

I always start my workouts with DC and then move onto the MS but on Tuesday I switched things up and did MS first followed by DC. I felt really strong that day and thought that maybe the order had something to do with it. However, I found that after a few more times of MS then DC that my muscles were really tired from the Mat work and I felt wobbly and just out of gas for the Dance Cardio so, I am back to DC first.
Speaking on DC, I struggle with it much more than the mat work. I have been trying to find a way to make it more enjoyable (I can only do the TAVA dance 1 so many times before I am going to get burned out and I want to head that off since I want to keep LOVING it.) I know that I need the rear view for dance cardio. My brain gets too confused trying to reverse everything. I found out that Tracy’s Unleash Your Inner Popstar offers a rear view and thanks to Amazon Prime I had it delivered to my door in just 2 days (ugh Amazon, how I both love and hate your convenient shopping!)
So now I had a rear view, only problem is that Inner Popstar is no joke. It is real, actual, dancing and choreography. I felt like I was just stumbling all over myself. But I did enjoy it. As I was looking at some of the older comments on one of my favorite #TAmily members @lorettasfitnesslife that she took the time to learn each dance one per week. Her DC videos are epic so I thought, hey, let’s give it a try! I also figured out that my DVD player can slow down the DVD playback so I can follow along at .6 speed and then boost it to .8 speed once I am getting the hang of it until finally I can follow along at real time. I was really worried that slowing the dance down that much would mean that I would lose all of the cardio benefits but that wasn’t the case at all. By the end of 30 minutes, I had worked up a great sweat. So look for lots of Inner Popstar combination 1 on next week’s schedule.
This Week’s Schedule:
Rest Day Tracy Anderson Mat Workout for Beginners Mat 3: Total Body Intermediate (25 min)
Total Dance Cardio 2.3 hours Total Muscular Structure 2.5 hours Grand Total 4 hours 50 minutes
Even though I didn’t lose any weight this week, I actually went up a little, my measurements went down and that’s what really matters. I knew I would have more reductions because I was able to fit into another one of my pre-pregnancy dresses and pants that are down a size (yay!). I will be continuing with Mat 3 for the rest of the week and as I mentioned, really trying to focus on learning combination 1 from Inner Popstar.
Right now, like as of this minute, I am still planning to move on to Metamorphosis next, but I wonder if I might get better overall results moving straight to Video Streaming now that a Beginner’s Class is offered. My thought is that the streaming offers all of her latest (and greatest?) content while Metamorphosis is a few years old. But on the flip side, Metamorphosis is geared to your specific body-type. I’m torn. If you’ve tried both, I’d love to hear your thoughts about which is better to start off with.
Let me know if you’ve tried Tracy Anderson or if you have any questions for me in the comments below!
