Good morning lovelies!  I hope that it is a beautiful day wherever you are in the world.  Even though it is back to being down right chilly here (47) the sun is shining so I can’t complain too much.  This was a really great week!  My Kindergartener had Spring Break so I took the week off of work and stayed home with the girls.  The week started off a bit rough with having to go into the office on Sunday to spend the day (yes a full day) finishing up our Fiscal Year 18 budget.  I was fortunate to have company though, as my 5 year old was super excited to go to work with mommy (remember those days when you were little – ha!).  She spent the day coloring, building puzzles and watching surprisingly little iPad.  The baby also had another cold and was coughing herself awake through the first few nights which meant that I wasn’t catching up on as much sleep as I was hoping to.  But by the end of the week she was feeling better and we were all starting to get more sleep. It is amazing how much your life revolves around sleep when your kids are little.

Happy Friday (or whatever day it happens to be when you are reading this). It is almost April and Spring is finally making it’s way to the Midwest.  The flowers have started to come out on our Bradford Pear trees and the sun has begun to make more frequent appearances which is so nice after the long gray winter we had.  I always feel so positive and hopeful at this time of year.  So much to look forward to with the coming warm weather, school breaks and vacation! Week 11!!!!  Ahh!!! I am so proud to have made it this far 🙂 I have officially worked out longer and more consistency than I ever have in my life.  Thank you Tracy Anderson! This week was tough with the switch to DSL on Monday.  The hour of sleep I lost was BRUTAL!  So much so that I even forgot my phone at the office on Tuesday. You don’t realize how much you use your phone until you don’t have it… I use mine to set the house alarms, turn off our lights and as my alarm clock!   Read More…

Ugh!  So week 10 results didn’t go up last week because I was SUPER busy with my husband leaving on Sunday to fly out to San Diego for work until Wednesday.  This week I started off with Master Class but without ankle weights, that is, until Tracy strapped on the triple (yes!  I said TRIPLE) ankle weights and then as an act of solidarity with my sisTAs, I strapped on my little 1.5 lb ankle weights.  OMG!  I have NO idea how everyone was doing these moves with triple ankle weights, mad props to everyone who survived that class and did it over and over and over through the week! Week 9 and week 2 of my streaming trial are already done, I can hardly believe it!  This was a tough week both from a content perspective and a life perspective.  My husband had to travel for work so he flew out on Tuesday afternoon and then got home really late on Wednesday night.  When he travels, I have to really plan ahead to make sure everything can get done and I still have time to get my workout in.  I think that is probably the best advice I can give any other mom out there who is trying to figure out how to fit in their workouts… you’ve got to plan them into your day.  For me, I usually work out after the baby goes down at 7pm and finish just after 8pm.  While it probably isn’t ideal to workout at night (I know Tracy is a huge proponent of AM workouts) this is the only time I can fit it in.  I already wake up at 5:15 am because I have to be at work at 7:30 am so it isn’t feasible for me to think I am going to get up at 4am (actually earlier because I would have to shower, right now I do that at night) to workout.   Read More…

For week 8 I had a few big changes.  First, I moved my workout from our family room in the lower level down to the basement which means those of you who follow me on Instagram now have to look at our storage and sometimes the mountain of baby stuff we need to donate.  So sorry about that! One day it will be finished and everything will be hidden away behind proper doors. But for now, I am working with what I have.  This location change has a few big benefits. Dance Cardio is WAY easier when you aren’t on carpeting. No more feeling like I am dislocating my knee with every pivot!  I now don’t have to inconvenience the entire family every time I want to workout and finally, if I can ever figure out a way switch to morning workouts, this location will work much better for that.

This week I really focused on trying to learn combo 1 from Inner Popstar.  This DVD has breakdowns for every combination and then a front and back view of all of the dances so once you learn them you can just play though them and dance without having to constantly fast forward and rewind (I really wish TAVA was like this). I discovered, by accident, that my DVD player has an option to play the DVD at .6 speed and .8 speed.  So once I got through the breakdown, I went to the rear view of the dance and played it at .6 speed so I could try to really learn all of the moves.  This worked out really great for me and by the end of the week I was able to go through the dance at full speed at least 1x before having to slow it down.  This DVD is NOT easy, but it is so much fun, so definitely worth the time and effort to try to learn it.

6 weeks already? I can hardly believe how quickly the time has gone.  This week was all about Mat Workout for Beginners Mat 3.  I am really loving this workout.  The arms are killer, especially those last three sets of weighted arms to the back that I talked about last week and that sweeping leg move is still giving me some problems.  Of course that could be due, in part, to the 1.5 lb ankle weights that were delivered and added to my workout as of Wednesday.  After adding the ankle weights I realized a few of those legs moves that I thought weren’t that bad are a whole different story once you have the ankle weights on.  Oh my, I definitely have a whole new appreciation for the phrase “hurts so good” now. Because this workout hurts SO good!

TAmmers do muscular structure work five-six days a week.  Just like with dance cardio, having really good music is so helpful to keeping you motivated and help you push through the burning pain when you feel like you just can’t lift your leg/arm/body one more time during these workouts. Luckily, because the bpm/tempo isn’t as important as with the dance cardio, there are a lot more options that work well.  I generally try to find something that will either get me in the zone or get me fired up depending on my mood and the particular workout. Last week I finished up Tracy Anderson Mat Workout for Beginners  Mat 2: Chair Sequence so this week I moved on the Mat 3: Total Body Intermediate. I was sad to see the chair go, but was excited to see what Tracy had in store for me.  Turns out it is a lot of arms and hips/bum …. oh how they burn… especially those last weighted butterflys.  She normally does 8 counts for arms. Well, let me tell you, she just keeps going and going and then she does more to the back and then another round of pulse both then right then pulse  both then left to the back, OMG!  I thought I was going to die!!!  I have yet to make it through 100% of the arm reps but I am hopeful that I will continue to get stronger through the week.
